ONEOK has requested additional electrical capacity and reliability for its pipeline facilities in Crook County. PRECorp determined that a new high-voltage distribution power line would be needed to replace existing lines connecting the Durfee Substation with a new substation adjacent to ONEOK's pumping facility. This new substation would be named the Inyan Kara Substation.
After taking public comment and studying potential routes in 2020, an 8.7-mile route was selected. See map on this page.
Project Specifics
- Construction of the project is planned for the summer and fall of 2023. Final reseeding, restoration, and retirement is scheduled for the spring of 2024.
- The project consists of 168 structure locations. A typical pole will have a height of seventy feet above ground.
- The HVD powerline right of way width is sixty feet (thirty feet from each side of the center line).
- Three portions of the project require installation of temporary structures known as “shoe-flies”. These short segments of line will be installed temporarily to re-route power during construction.
