Learn more about electric vehicles (EV's)
Powder River Energy leased a Chevy Bolt in 2020, an electric vehicle (EV) to gain an understanding of this new technology, so that we could learn together with our members about its use and function. PRECorp also installed a public charging station at our office in Sundance, that remains available for public use.
After the lease period concluded in October of 2023, an evaluation of the cost of ownership was undertaken. PRECorp learned about this technology during the lease period and determined that the economic feasibility of purchasing the Chevy Bolt at this time did not make financial sense.
While the experience of leasing the electric vehicle and the installation of a charging station provided valuable steps forward, the decision not to purchase the vehicle weighed the importance of careful financial planning and responsible resource allocations.
While the lease period may have come to an end without an acquisition of the vehicle, the PRECorp's willingness to explore new technologies and its proactive approach to serving its members remain an important part of future endeavors in the realm of electric transportation.
